the events of death note for girl light
- She gets the death note the same way boy!Light gets it, and kills her first victim the same way. BUT, although she is freaked out, she doesn't go out alone at night because she's a girl, so she doesn't get to kill Shibutaku then.
- The next day, Shibutaku is being a creep at some poor woman again while Light's on the way home from school with Yuri (who has switched roles with Yamamoto, and thus is Light's longtime friend who she walks home with). Light is carrying the death note. She gives Yuri some excuse, slips into a bathroom in a nearby store, and writes pretty much the same thing boy!Light does in canon. When she comes out of the bathroom, Shibutaku is splattered on the pavement, hooray(??).
- Things go pretty much the same way for a bit afterwards. The dates aren't pushed back a day from canon, even though Light killed Shibutaku a day later, because Light has recovered and started doing Kira things by that evening, and I can only assume that boy!Light waited until the day after he killed Shibutaku to start Kiraing, since it was sort of late at night.
- Then! FBI agents.
- Raye Penber is still a sexist asshole, but he follows Light, because we know in canon that he follows female family members. Otherwise, L wouldn't be like "someone in the Yagami family might be Kira.", he would be like "Light Yagami specifically might be Kira."
- Ryuuk still tells Light that there's a dude following her, and Light is more freaked out than boy!Light, because she has to worry about the possibility that L's spy is following her and the possibility that a creep is waiting to attack her.
- So she's careful, and waits to see if he's still there later, which he is. He's persistent and doesn't seem to have anywhere else to go, but he also doesn't seem interested in doing anything but following at a discreet distance. Thus, he is probably a spy for L.
- She tricks Raye into giving his name in pretty much the same way, except she takes Yamamoto out instead of Yuri, and acts much less like "I will save us!" and much more like "Oh shit..." because gender roles suck. But she still says something that alarms Raye, and he reassures her or discourages her or whatever, and she asks if he's an accomplice, and he shows his badge, &c.
- He shows it to Yamamoto, even though Light's the one who asked and Yamamoto hasn't contributed anything useful. Way to go, Raye.
- Anyway, it works, the FBI agents die, and L zeroes in on her the same way he does on canon Light (because even though he has to at least suspect the entire Yagami family, the sixty-four cameras indicate that he knows Light is the most likely of everyone he's watching to be Kira). But he can't put sixty-four cameras in her room because she's a girl and everyone would be outraged and Soichiro would probably shoot him or something.
- So he puts one, but Light still notices because she still has the whole paranoid system in place to tell who's been in her room. Although she probably has some other excuse for it than a porn stash.
- But the camera is at the worst possible angle (for her purposes) so she still takes a potato chip... AND EATS IT. Even though Sayu and Sachiko give her a way harder time about eating junk food because what about her figure!!!!!!
- So L eventually takes out the cameras and is pretty sure that Light is Kira by now, the way he is in canon, but he is surrounded by sexists who don't trust him so they would definitely think the only reason he's saying that is so that he can creep on the hot underaged girl.
- This is when her storyline really diverges from canon, because he has to go about investigating her some other way. And I don't know what that way is yet because I'm not a genius superdetective, so whatever canon point Light is from, it will not be further on than this.
THE END for now
